What is Community Bible Study (CBS)?
Community Bible Study (CBS) is an interdenominational Bible study that brings people together around God's Word.
CBS is a global ministry with Bible study classes that meet all over the world...including Brunswick, Georgia! Our women's class meets throughout the school year, taking a summer break.
Scroll down and click "Watch Video" to find out more about the larger ministry of CBS.
The Brunswick/St. Simons CBS class currently meets at First Baptist Church Brunswick on Thursdays from 9:30am - 11:30am
Women from all over our community come together to study the Bible, and explore what it tells us about the God who has woven His story through history, and is present with us now! All women are welcome!
Is childcare available?
Yes! Childcare is available for registered children of attending class participants. Trained Children’s Leaders provide care and age-appropriate teaching for babies to school-aged children.
*For the current 2024-25 class year, some of our children's classes are at capacity. Please go ahead and register (yourself and your children), and we’ll let you know whether or not we’re able to place your child(ren) right away.
If your child is placed on a temporary waitlist, don't let that discourage you...we are diligently working to place women with children in class as soon as possible! Once placed, you'll be able to pick up where the class is without feeling left behind!
Is it okay to join mid-study?
Yes! We often have new participants join us mid-study.
How and when do I register?
Register online, or come visit us on any Thursday to find out more and register in person! Registration is open throughout the year.
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer childcare for any visitors at this time.
What is a CBS class like?
An orientation for new participants is offered each Thursday at 9:30
9:20- Children's classes open for drop-off
9:30- Small Group Discussion (called Core Groups)
10:40 - Large Group Gathering (announcements, teaching, singing)
11:30- Class Ends
Our class meets weekly during the school year. Each participant receives a course book with weekly lessons that include home study questions and a commentary. Each week, you’ll participate in a small group discussion (sharing what you learned in your home study) and a large group teaching.
What is a Core Group?
You'll be placed in the same small group (called a Core Group) for the class year. Your Core Group will be led by a caring leader, who will facilitate small group discussion over the Bible lesson each week. Your leader will also personally connect with you throughout the year, pray for you, and organize fellowships to build deeper relationships within your group. Core Groups offer a safe and inviting place to grow in friendship as you study God's Word.
Is there a way to access my weekly lessons online?
Yes! All participants recieve a course book, but there's also an easy way for registered participants to access and complete lessons online (or print them off), and even listen to the recorded teaching from previous weeks!

What will we study?
2025-2026 Course Description:
Psalms (30 weeks) – The book of Psalms has served as the hymnbook and prayerbook of God’s people from ancient times and on into the present. Known as the Psalter, this collection of Holy Spirit-inspired poetry captures the highs and lows of life. The Psalms are powerful prayers, guiding us into honest communication with God. They validate our doubts, passions, fears, and longings and show us how to draw near to God in our struggles. This Bible study organizes the Psalms thematically, making it easier to grasp their main ideas and apply them to your own conversations with God.
